Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, through its Tennessee Gas Pipeline division, is proposing a brand new natural gas pipeline from the fracking fields of Pennsylvania to a terminus in Dracut, Mass., and onward from there to export facilities in the Canadian Maritimes.
Many people feel strongly that this project is not in the best interests of New England’s long-term energy and environmental policies. See this video for quick details:
The currently preferred route, as of early December, cuts across Massachusetts for 64 miles before heading northward into New Hampshire (purple line below), with a lateral line heading down through Townsend and Lunenburg. But the previous route (green line below) is still under consideration as a viable alternate route that threatens homes, schools, and conservation land in Ashby, Pepperell, Groton, Dunstable, and Tyngsboro, among other Massachusetts towns.
From the start, Groton Pixel has been an active opponent to the closed-door development and fast-tracking of this project to the exclusion of all other options. We have marched along the proposed pipeline route. We have called on our legislators at the State House. We have joined over a hundred other local business in an anti-pipeline petition. We have hosted, designed, and maintained an acclaimed website for Stop the Pipeline Coordinating Committee of Groton.
Now we invite our clients to join us in demanding a better, more responsible way to meet our energy needs.
For our web design clients, we offer a $200 Pipeline Stopper Package as an upgrade featuring:
- Upgraded hosting on a wind-powered server to reduce your carbon footprint;
- Low bandwidth design to reduce electricity consumption;
- Eco-Friendly web design practices;
- A donation to MassPLAN to assist in legal efforts to stop the pipeline; and
- A “Carbon-Free Futures” image to display on your site and at your business
